The energy system of the future

The need to address climate change is high, which is why we must invest heavily in the sustainable transition of the Dutch energy system.

That the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement must be met is beyond dispute, but how do we ensure that we do this in the most cost-effective way?

Charge, in cooperation with the Scientific Institute of the ChristenUnie, has commissioned a project by consultancy Quo Mare that provides tools to make this more transparent. With this project, the ChristenUnie WI and Charge brought insights based on a mathematical energy transition model from Quo Mare to grassroots representatives and group supporters.

This project entitled “The energy system of the future” explored the different paths to a more sustainable Dutch energy system: what are the paths that are not only feasible, but also economically sensible? Interactive workshops provided insight into the possibilities, dependencies and costs of different scenarios for the sustainable energy transition of the Netherlands.
